Sunday Bike Ride... halloween hangover version

Today is Monday November 2 2026 and yesterday i rode my bicycle outside.

It was glorious.

But i was hungover from an outstanding Halloween the night before.

We embrace Halloween and so does our neighborhood and i think everybody took it up a notch since this year it fell on a Saturday. The streets were alive and the drinks were flowing. It was pretty amazing. The not so little man is almost 12 and the wonder of childhood is threatening to vanish for good but he's still got a few tricks up his sleeve and on Halloween night he conjured up some of that old magic.

We all had so much fun.

After the trick r treating was done and our guests were gone i didn't want the night to end so at 10 i put on the original Ghostbusters and the not so little man and i watched the whole movie. Well, i fell asleep on the couch but he stayed up. X was kind enough to get him into bed when it was over, i stayed on the couch.

At 5:30 i was up and after spending several hours picking up and drinking obscene amounts of coffee i grabbed some Halloween candy and headed out for 37 miles on my mountain bike. The full Rocky Route. All things considered i felt pretty good. i barely rode all week and i think that helped, it made it easier to absorb the abuse i subjected my body to the night before.

Also i caught a falling leaf on this ride, which is a good omen.

i make the rules around here.

Cyclocross is a no go for me this year so maybe i'll see if i can set a new record on the Old Leawood North loop that i like to do.

it's good to have a carrot.

After my Sunday ride i did more Halloween clean up, including putting away most of the decorations, but i left out a few... to keep the vibes going.

Creatures crawl in search of blood, to terrorize y'alls neighborhood.
